LESSON 8
Brief description about the class
In this class, we have
carried on working the concepts related with “The approaches and methods in
language teaching”. Firstly, the professor has shown us the last methods we
haven’t seen yet: “CLIL”, “Task based teaching”, “TPR: Total physical response”
or “Multisensory learning”, and finally, “Natural approach”. We have seen real simulation videos of each method too.
He has shown us different drills and how we can use them. At the end, the professor has taught us some differents
approaches to learn phonetic, and we have seen some videos that shown how we can
teach the vocalic sounds to our children (Jolly phonics).
What I've learnt
We have learnt lots of
interesting things, like different methods said previously, with their
characteristics, the aspects they develop, etc. It has been very useful to me
the video we have seen about drills that we can easily apply in our classes, converting them into dynamics and amusing lessons.
Also, I have found very
interesting the introduction into phonetics, because in the last courses I
haven’t learnt anything about it, but now I know some things about the vocalic
sounds, for example.
My personal opinion
I think it has been a
very instructive lesson because we have finally known all the methods and
approaches in language teaching, and we have learnt about how we can use drills
with our pupils, something that it seems to me very useful in my future.
I have found quite interesting the vocalic sounds teaching, because previously I hadn't idea about them. I didn't practice them into the ESO o the baccalaureate.

Finally, I would like
to highlight that it doesn’t exists a perfect or magic method. Like teachers,
we have to know what the perfect method in each situation is.
