LESSON 6

Brief description about the class

Today, we have carried on with “The approaches and methods in language teaching”. We hae seen some methods like “The Oral Approach and Situational Language Teaching”, “The Audio-lingual Method”, “The Communicative Language Teaching”, “The Suggestopedia”, “The Silent Way” and finally, the most famous nowadays “CLIL”.

We have seen a simulate real video for each method, and we have could check their characterics, objectives, advantages and disadvantages.

Also, the teacher has shown us different drills what can be used in the foreign language teaching.

What I've learnt

In this class, I have learnt a lot of the different methods and approaches in language learning that we can apply in the classroom with our children. I have known a lot of new vocabulary like: drills, straightforward, “novice” teachers...

Furthermore, I have learnt the diverses types of drills we can use in the future to explain our pupils a determinate concept, a new structure...This knowledge improves my formation like a teacher.

My personal opinion

In my opinion, despite of been only theory, the class has been dynamic because the teacher has used resources and tools like explaining videos or simulation videos of the practice of these methods.

It is very important for teachers to know this approaches and methods to use them in their class, knowing how the best is depending on the circumstances.

Although it is only theory that I haven’t practice, I hope I am able to use it in my future like a teacher.
